i have some drums that sound terrible and i think are pretty much a lost cause as far as being used for regular drum sounds. any ideas for mods or crazy things to build?

What I like to do is record a sample of each drum being hit one by one. Then take each sample and tear it apart, add weird effects, Warp it in strange ways with Ableton Live, etc. Then sequence your new beats in a really choppy manner. You can get some pretty crazy loops and new sounds, even from drums that can't really sound good traditionally anymore!

FedEx them to me for free, so I can learn how to play drums.
Good idea, huh?
Thanks for the drums;)

You could put inexpensive drum triggers on each drum and route them into something like an Alesis D4 or D5. You still play your drums and get new sounds out of them easily. I did this with a bunch of garbage cans; looked odd, sounded great.
