Hi,
I have just bought the g4 powerbook with 1.25 GHz processor. I was about to purchase logic platinum 6, but was told that this is optimized for the new G5, and should purchase logic 5 instead. Does anyone know if this is true? I assumed that the newer version would have better features and would run smoothly on either system. lemme know, thanks |

Buy Logic 6. It is better than Logic 5.
Logic 6 is optimized for the G5. It also "optimized" for the G4 and will run fine on your powerbook. The "Optimized for G5" means that it is programmed to take advantage of some of the G5's new features. It does not mean that it will only run on the G5. It is also optimized to take advantage of the G4's Altivec chip. |

Yep, the first line in formatj's reply hits the nail on the head: 6 is WAY better than 5. And my version of 6 Platinum still says "optimised for G4 and dual processors" as it loads and I've had no problems. I'm fully up-to-date (6.2.3) and have no complaints. I don't think "optimising" for the G5 makes a blind bit of difference for G4 Macs.
