Well, this answer isn't from me - I received it as a reported post, me being a moderator round these parts, so I've merely posted what he wrote below. Perhaps Jimmy made a mistake in choosing where to send his answer, I don't know.

Anyhoo, what he says is decent enough advice. You might also like to get something like Sound Studio 2.0, which is pretty cool, or get one of the free audio apps like Pro Tools Free, Metro or any of the others listed in the software section here on this site. Your iBook itself has no recording application.

Here's what Jimmy wrote:
I like Audio Hijack (I think you can get it right here in the soft downloads, or maybe version tracker). You can also use it to record the audio from interente radio, or in fact, any audio output from any application. Its real simple to use and has a lot of cool little features (not the least of which are a bunch of dedicated DSPs and included effects,{and good ones at that!}, as well as access to any other VST or AU plugins you may have already). In OS9 you can't be simpler than Simplesound which is given with the system, there are other solutions like the ones given by rickenbacker.

In OSX, you're stuck for now (and as far as I and the webmaster know bound to commercial software -the usual $$$ suspects- and sharewares)

Now If Digidesign hear us… release PT Free for OSX!
