It depends on the interface
If you use an Opcode interface, then OMS can work with the drivers direct, and all sorts of midi manipulation can take place.......( patch editor)
For example, I have a system where i use 2 opcode studio 4s and can do exactly what you require,
I took a little more messing about to do it with my old MOTU midi express, and sometimes, i couldnt make it do EXACTLY what i needed.
However, using Logic can also help . as its environment set up allows you to do most anything that you maybe cant achieve with just OMS.
Its also possible to do it with hardare, check out the Phillip Rees range of MIDI boxes (thru. merge, filter, switch , cv , blah blah)
best regards
