Does anyone have suggestions for good bargains for a live instrument interface and a good, simple midi interface that is supported by reason, OR hardware that may be worth checking out that takes into account both live and MIDI inpouts at once for a G4 running Protools Free and Reason? Appreciate any help!

Take a look at midiman.com they make several cards and midi interfaces.

Pro Tools free is sort of iffy. When I had my Korg 1212 card, it would crash when opened.

With my Delta 410 I can play back, but it doesn't support recording through SPDIF, which makes my digital mixer useless.

So for me it's only useful for mastering final mixes.

You will probably be happier if you get Cubasis, or the lowend Logic product.
