Hi everyone,

My first post here, I have been trolling around for awhile. Here is my question, I was all ready to by the big box logic 5.5. They are selling it at the apple retail store here in N.Y.C. However I was crusing through the internet last night and I found this.

the link

I got to it through apples web page. THe thing is that is the Big Box with Logic 6. The people at the apple store told me it was a misprint, but when I called the web page he told me it was definitlly Logic 6. So here is my questions,

A. Is it actually Logic 6

B. What is the difference beween The Big Box, and Platnium. I am a real beginer so I don't need to much. But I don't understand why one is 500 buck more then the other.

I can't tell you for sure whether or not the Big Box is shipping with Logic Audio 6 now. emagicusa has told me they are, and I don't see any reason why audioMIDI.com would lie about it. (btw, I ordered my version 5 Big Box from them - they seem like a nice bunch.) Either way, if you happen to wind up with version 5 when you order it, you can just call up emagicusa and order a free upgrade to 6 (although you gotta pay $8 shipping). I'm not sure how tightly emagic has been integrated into the apple fold yet, so I wouldn't take the dude at the apple store's word as the end all be all.

As for the difference between the 3 Logic versions, you can find a very handy comparison chart here. Just keep in mind when you're trying to decide what you 'need' not only what your current requirements are but what you might want in another few months or a year down the road. The thing you don't want to do is sell yourself short and find yourself wishing that you would have gone with the bigger and better package from the get-go. (That being said, I'm perfectly fine with regular old Logic Audio, but your mileage may vary.)

Dude, thanks for the info. That was very helpful.

They really pissed me off at the apple store actually. Partially cause I used to work there, and I know that the philsophy at this particular store is sell at all cost. So they can be kind of pushy.

It's no sweat, if the box has 5.5 inside, your'e elegible for a free upgrade to Logic6.

Once 5.5 is authorized you can demo Logic Audio6 & Logic Platinum6, and if it expires before the upgrade arrives , you can demo Logic Gold6 and it will enable another demo period for Logic Audio6.
