1)

Everytime I start up Digital Performer 4.01 I have to manually switch between my two identical midiconfigurations.

This is because Core midi doesnt seem to regognize the Motu Midi express interface.

It's Icon is greyed out and to get it active I have to go to menu and turn it off and then turn it on.

I have the OS X drivers from Motu for the Micro Express.

You may say that I should try with only one Midi configuration in the Motu folder.

I have done that and there is no difference to the behaviour.

I don't understand why Core midi don't regognize midi express automatically.

2) Another thing that I have thought about: Is there any difference to keep the applications in the User folder called "Programs" compared to keep the applications in the boot folder called "applications" Besides if you are more than one user on a computer.?

1)
Dunno - email tech-support at motu.

2)
Yes there CAN be.
Be careful to install apps as your default user in Mac OS X.
Depending on the installer some apps may be accessible only to the user who installed it.

I want to start a theory of conspiracy:

Apple will not let any music apps get a foothold on OSX until Logic succeed.
Soon there will be a campaign to switch. biggrin.gif

The solution for making the Micro express USB midi interface (Motu) to appear at once when launching DP 4.01 is to turn Classic enviroment off.

This could be a symptom of having DP 3.11 on another partition of my hard disk.

On the other hand -- the midi driver for the Micro express USB midi interface (Motu) in OS 9 is located on another hard disk, not just another partition. So I am not sure why turning Classic enviroment off helps.

2) I have a trivial question. When I try to copy and paste patches from my older FreeMidi patchlists.

How do I save them as XML in the Text editor that comes with OS X?

For me they saves at either rtf. or as txt.

I try to make a patchlist for my two Roland U110 which I have 8 different sound cards to.
This seems to be to difficult for me. I have tried the Cherry picker application without success.
There is also a converter for converting OMS to midnam. at

http://www.sonosphere.com/MusicSoftware/MIDINames/

That is great ! But how do I copy the results so it becomes a XML-document, like the others found in

Library/Audio/Midi devices/Motu ?

I wish I could send my patches to someone and get them fixed as midnam.

There was an application called Patch List Manager 1.44

I have lots of patches there which I have exported as text documents. But how do I go grom there to XML and midnam.

I wish there was a place where you could mail your old lists and have them converted.
For a small amount....

Best regards
