has anyone used the pocket express as a stand alone smpte controller for analog and digital I cant use it with my mac I have the m-audio 2496 and using the express locks up the computer but I need a mtc to sync with my reel to reel and cubase

I don't use pocket express, but I 'm still using the original MTP; it works the same way.
Use 1/4" cable for IN/OUT.
You need to strip SMPTE on one of the track at the edge.
Start at about a ten turns of the reel.
Then use SmpteRoute (it comes with FreeMIDI) to start stripping the tape till you have enough or the tape runs out.
Normally I would start STMPTE at1:00:00:00.
That's it. You now can sync Cubase with your reel to reel.

Too bad that you reel to reel can't read MMC: you don't need to waste a track or two (the other's for a buffer track). cool.gif
