Hello, I am looking for the names of the best Auido software for Mac comercial or free-ware it doesnt realy matter. what I am looking for is seperate programs,if they exist, one for manipulating sounds, one for multi tracking and one for MIDI, the seperate-ness of these programs is not that crucial,

One of the best multi track editor/recorder, with midi capabilities is Protools from Digidesign.

They just made a FREE fully functionnal version of Protools, which can be downloaded from their site.

The only restriction is to have at least 128M RAM and to use the built-in audio in/out (you CAN'T add a third-party card, except a Digidesign card, of course.)

it ROCKS !!!!!!!!

Nope ! angry.gif
quoting Digidesign :
Pro Tools FREE has some system components that are different from other versions of Pro Tools and DO NOT WORK with most Digidesign hardware. Pro Tools FREE 5.0.1 is compatible with the Audiomedia III card on Win98/Me, but not on the Mac. Other Digidesign hardware products are not recommended for use with Pro Tools FREE. In general, we recommend Pro Tools FREE for use on computers where Digidesign hardware is not installed. Pro Tools LE and TDM versions are fully tested for the best compatibility with our hardware and these are the versions which should be used with our hardware.

if you buy a digi card you often get a protools LE bundled with it, so you DO have a compatible Protools software ;)

PT free, and LE are about the same...
