sounds like what is sometimes called a 'FEATURE' hehe or at least thats what we used to call those sort of manageable issues that creep into workflows sometimes.

I have a 2nd environment window open with another layer shown, and the "lost" strip appeared there!! The solution would be to keep your audio strips all on their original layer.
