So I currently have a powerbook G4 and mainly I use Live 6 and Reason 3. and I'm looking at getting (preferably) an iMac as there's already a screen with it, and I have a spare dell 2407 24" widescreen monitor... so... would an iMac be suffice for audio work for years to come? (As I said, I use Live and Reason 3, both are universal, as well as Audacity, SoundConverter, and Soundtrack) or would it be overkill, and I should get a mac mini pimped out? or perhaps spend a bit extra and get a mac pro? Im sure I wouldn't need THAT much more power (as i do all my work at the moment on the g4 powerbook) I dont know... suggestions? thoughts? opinions? anyone with a 24" imac out there?

I can handle quite a bit in pro tools and I have an Imac g5- my system only starts to geek out when using really intensive stuff multiple times- like guitar rig- but as far as normal plugins I can usually run 25 to 30 without slowdown. If you are just doing Live and Reason, I would think that an Imac would be more than capable- especially the new intel that is suppose to run at twice the speeds of my G5- thats my opinion at least- good luck Josh QUOTE (mechcon @ Wed 8 Nov 2006, 21:50) So I currently have a powerbook G4 and mainly I use Live 6 and Reason 3. and I'm looking at getting (preferably) an iMac as there's already a screen with it, and I have a spare dell 2407 24" widescreen monitor... so... would an iMac be suffice for audio work for years to come?
