I just bought this USB mic, the Blue Snowball, a few weeks ago, and it makes recording on my Mac quicker and easier than ever... The dual-capsule design is tailored for a great vocal performance, but it works great for recording songs with my electric guitar too. I think it's particularly good for any guitar amp.. whether it's clean or distorted tones.

I've used this mic to record my band (live and studio) and podcasts as well. I think it's great since USB direct-recording doesn't require an expensive audio interface. Even though the mic looks retro and reminds of the early days of audio, the modern technology ensures professional quality audio recording.. A great buy.
