I would like to know if there's any mac programs for adding a tempo based delay effects?
I'm a die hard enthusiest for Opcodes "Studio Vision Pro." music sequencing software program but I've ran my limit with its VST funtionaly.
The ideal program (if one even exists) would have the awsome realtime effects features, similar to "Reason" & "ReBirth", & capable of being used as 3 party software.
It would be a dream come true if "Propellerhead" would make it so that Reason could be used as a virtual sound module & sequenced by other software programs ie.: StudioVisionPro.
If anyone knows about anything that I might prove to help me out.., I'm open for suggestions.

Well, from what I have heard... With Reason 2 running in OSX, you can link it to Live and sequence it as you mentioned and there may be a possible way to sequence from Logic in OSX too. It is possible to do it in OS9 but you would have to use the IAC bus to send the midi and I hear that the latency is horrible and not worth the effort.

As for tempo based delays... you do realize that there is a formula for calculating delay times in microseconds that give you tempo based delay for anything that doesn't sync automatically right? I haven't had to use it in a while but I think its something like 60,000 divided by the BPM that gives you quarter note delays but I may be off on that one.

I use Logic and just noticed recently it even has easy made tempo delays with its included delay plugs in case you are ever considering a new sequencer.

Hmmmm..., Logic.., I was afraid someone might suggest this particular sequencer. It looks great but just seems so complicated to me.
Nevertheless.., if you can't beat 'em.., join 'em.
Which version of Logic are you using?
BTW..: I had no idea that there was actually a formula for figuring delay effects to match tempo changes.
My main sound module right now is the QY70. It's loaded with multi-effects but unfortunately.., it's not all that easy to customize the effects.
I tried customizing the panned stero delay effect to match a 145bpm tempo but there are so many knobs that need to be turned & trying to figure out which knob controls which element of the effect is just way to time consuming. Things like taps, pings, feedback duration, dry/wet, in mono/stero left & right outs are just a few of the many different editable parts for an effect. Hard part is that if I'm experimenting with various tempos..., I have to keep re-configuring all these things.

I currently am using Logic Gold 4.8.1 and about ready to move to 5.x maybe here soon. I will admit that Logic is very complex but as I started working in it... I found out that there is a lot of stuff that I really don't need to use thus using Logic became a bit easier. I also love the fact that in Logic, you can set the key commands for almost every function available in the app so I set up some of the commands to work as they do in my ProTools LE which helped me a lot too. I have Logic setup so that is the main command center for all my midi gear which is really cool. I love the way it allows me to access my different patches on my multi-timberal CS6x synth and plus I have the ESX24 sampler that I love since it can be used on up to 24 tracks and is much easier to setup and program than my previous EMU ESI2000 hardware sampler I sold.

I was a die-hard ProTools fan and used it for midi and audio but now I rely on Logic for midi sequencing and use ProTools for quick audio recording and editing.

try visiting http://www.dancetech.com/ and browse their tutorial files... you should find an article or two on delays there that should have that formula I mentioned. Of course this formula only works if the delay unit can be set according to microseconds... if it doesn't use ms for setting the time then I guess you'll just have to do by ear. Since you did mention you were having to deal with lots of knobs... I will suggest documenting your knob positions which may help you in the future to recreate a certain sound ect.
