Hello
I would like to speed up my G4. I seriously think about Sonnet Encore ST G4 1,4 GHz. On M-Audio site I found that their stuff doesn't work with upgrade cards. Why?
Is it only M-Audio's problem?
Does anybody use this card in music Mac?

thanx for help in advance

Which G4 model do you have?

Where (on M-Audio's site) and what did M-Audio have to say,... about which M-Audio product?

I'm in the process of doing a CPU upgrade on my G4 (AGP graphics model) myself and your post gives me great concern! I've not read anything yet in my research that indicates a problem with audio applications and Sonnet's or other CPU upgrades.

Earlier G4s have a bus speed of 100 Mhz, some G4's have 133Mhz, and I know that you must be careful not to overclock,... but what could be the problem with M-Audio's hardware or software?

(2nd post)

This is the only info that I could find on M-Audio's site while searching for "Sonnet". http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=suppor...ddcb"Using

Delta cards with "old world" Macs
Q: Can I use a Delta Series card in an old Macintosh Computer (7x00/8x00 Series)?

A: A 7x00, 8x00 or 9x00 PowerMac is too old to be used with a Delta Series card. We had customer reports where Delta cards were successfully used in older type Macintosh computers that were upgraded with G3 or G4 accelerator cards but M-Audio does not support the use of G3/G4 accelerator cards since not all of them are compatible."[QUOTE]
