Hi - hope someone can help!

I have just upgraded to Jaguar, and can't seem to setup my midi studio.

I use an Evolution controller keyboard connected via USB using the Yamaha UX96 interface.

I don't quite understand the new "Audio Midi Setup" utility. When I click "Rescan Midi", my Yamaha box should presumably appear if it is properly setup. Is this right? Cos it doesn't!

I fear the problem is a lack of driver.

I have the driver disk for the UX96, but the only mac driver installer opens in Classic mode, so is therefore not Carbonised I deduce.

Can anyone tell me where to find a UX96 driver for Jaguar? (I've tried the Yamaha website, obviously). I have installed the driver onto OS 9.2, but I presume I must have a driver specifically for OS 10.2 to use it with that system?

Thanks for any help.

you provided the answers yourself!
you can only hit yamaha and m-audio's sites until the relative drivers become available.
however, as i don't use either devices, i feel, hopefully, some regulars that i know DO use them, will post soon. it could, i guess, be a conflict between the various drivers/components... huh.gif

Damann, you being damann and all, cool.gif

Does what you're saying mean that the much-ballyhooed "core MIDI services" is essentially a wannabe OS-level OMS/FreeMIDI replacement, but instead of PROVIDING drivers/compatibility with existing MIDI interfaces and devices, Apple is relying entirely on the manufacturers to provide them? In other words, is this a well-thought out, planned, schemed, intentional anarchy by Apple where the only casualties will be the toes of musicians kicking their expensive equipment, trying in vain to get it to work with their Macs?

Nah. With the many differences in midi devices you can't expect Apple to provide drivers for all circumstances. Of course CoreMidi does resemble OMS quite a bit, but the real difference is not the little setup app, but how it integrates with your apps and I really can't complain there (using an emagic AMT8).

I have a midiman 2x2 USB interface. They have OSX support and drivers. I downloaded the driver, my laptop woke up, saw the midiman, and that was all she wrote. My Alesis 7.1 is dancing with Reason 2.0 (Jaguar version), and I can't wait to get home from my real job to get back to my music.

levonriver, you'd make a fine detective! laugh.gif
you got it in one.
to exemplify this, i feel sorry, for instance, for the thousands of people out there that still use a studio 4. unsure.gif
what times the next bandwagon due? laugh.gif

Dunno. I just hope the band on it isn't trying to make music with OS X and a MIDI interface. unsure.gif rolleyes.gif
