ok i need some help. about two weeks ago i got a g4 powerbook and use garage band i also bought remus rmx, a trigger finger pad, and a oxygen 8 keyboard. now im making ok beats but i feel like when i go to make the drum with beat and clap i cant control it. What i mean is i use a kit from rmx then go to garage band and use the trigger finger pad to make the basic beat but the tempo never matches up right. is there an easier way to get it so the tempo matches the basic beat. cause right now i move the tempo then see if the basic beat will fit in the 2 bars or w/e. is there a way to make the basic beat then it will automaticly fit or set its tempo. please help me out im new at this.

dont know garage band but it sounds like Quantasise setting is either off or set at 1/64. Set it to 1/16th if you can. You can also move things around manually after recording. This is all assuming you are recording midi as there is no real fix/adjustment for audio.

This might help
Try using your midi controller to create drum sounds (to start with) make sure your keyboard is plugged in (usb) then open up Garageband, select new track , software instrument, drum kit then hit record and the keyboard will be active. then hit stop, delete what you played and you can practice using the entire keyboard with drums each key is different , one may be a snare, another a cymbol, where if you selected software instrument piano the keyboard would function as a piano (the record/stop/delete is a work around to allow practice, someone else may have a better idea with that aspect I have used Gb since Jan 05, I do not have a finger trigger sounds interesting but this way you can walk before you run hope this helps post again if this did not help good luck "You can do it! |

It depends on your pocketbook!
If you want to stay with a Apple product Logic Express or Logic 7 The express is just under $300.00, Logic ( Apple bought the Logic program as far as I know, is close to $1,000 with tax) I have a copy of Tracktion 1, they were giving it away (its a Mackie product) prior to releasing (for sale) Tracktion 2 , I have not used it that much so I really do not have a honest opinion about it Reason (Propellerhead) is very popular as well as Native Instruments (lots of plug-ins) there is also Pro Tools and its variants Have you checked out www.harmonycentral.com go under user reviews for software and pick by manufacturer and you will get user reviews www.sweetwater.com is probaly (to me) the largest online seller of DAW, VST, and computer based music creation software out there, I work with Ted Hunter there (he is my sales rep) he can help you with whatever you need there is a online form you can fill out or call Sweetwater and ask for him or any available computer music software salesperson. This is a good place for help as well as macjams.com a site devoted to music created on Mac's and he various Mac platform programs Hope this helps David dwwave |
