Maybe, I'm an idiot, but does Logic Pro seem rather clumsy in the merging of multiple audio regions into one large region? In Pro Tools, I can do this task very quickly and easily, but the only way I can do this is by using the "glue" tool.

Can anyone provide me with some advice? Should I stick to Pro Tools, or continue with Logic Pro 7?

I thought Logic Pro would be just as easy as Pro Tools, but that is not proving to be the case.

Thanks,
Albert.

You could use the "Merge objects" key command.
or you could use Pro Tools.

For me, it's Logic smile.gif

I guess that depends somewhat on what you're trying to do. Logic is not ProTools. You may want to try to NOT use Logic in the same way you would Protools

If I had a whole track of regions I wanted to merge into a single audio file I would
1. click on the track to select them all
2. option click or right click and select the glue tool
3. click on the objects to create the new , merged audio file.

that takes, literally, about 2.5 seconds. and if you use the "merge" key command you can shave another 1 second off of that.

but i'd probably just leave them as regions unless I wanted to export the track as an audio file to give to someone else.
A more common work flow for me is to pack the various sections or track groupings into folders.

Thanks for your replies. There is no question, that I am trying to use Logic Pro in a similar fashion as Pro Tools. Since my main mode of operation is recording multi-track audio (bands), then mixing and remixing, I am trying to force this type of workflow on Logic Pro. I also do a reasonable amount of editing and audio manipulation.

Since you folks are more experienced in the using Logic Pro effectively and efficiently, do you have any suggestions on these audio editing procedures:

1) Tab-to-Transient, there is a button which allows the cursor to move to the next transient in an audio region, such as a snare track. So, I can tab then select a sub-region and create a loop.

2) Snap the beginning of a region on a track to the end of another region on another track.

3) Snap the beginning of a region on a track to the beginning of another region on another track.

Thanks,
Albert.

unfortunately these are all functions that would be very welcome in logic pro, if they ever decide to update the audio editing in it - its not changede in a long time and has nothing on cubase or protools

logic pro is brilliant in a lot of areas but not this one..

although i think you can snap regions to the end of another region on the same track - you should be able to set that on an option field i think at the top right of the arrange window

the fastest way to merge tracks in logic is to click on the track to select them all (this is only if you want all the regions selected on that track) and the hit the = button.
