hi all, can anyone give me advice on how to do an uninstall and reinstall of Logic on the mac (10.4) ? please?

I know how to do this for Windows but dont know mac well enough to know how to do this properly for the mac.... my Logic has been firewired to a new mac and it does not work so I am seeing on this forum that its best to do a clean install properly.

Can anyone give me advice on how to do this?

You must install it from the beginning and from your original Disc or
DVD. Saves all your presets and send to your new computer.

OK thanks Jsegura smile.gif

so, its just installing over the existing bad install then, nothing harder than that, no removal of any files manually then?

Now, I wonder which of these cds is the original, I got so many updates from Emagic via the post :-)

Well, currently Logic is at 7.1 and made by Apple, there has been 7.0 and 7.01 and 7.1 since Emagic was snapped up like the cute little hot potato that it was. You may have a DVD marked Logic Pro7 install, use it, simply run the installer.
Otherwise you will have an Emagic version, 6.xx or earlier. I wouldn't like to say whether this will work under tiger, I'd doubt it, you can still find updates online.

emagic updates

You'll need a 'XSkey' for this, an emagic usb dongle, they come in various colourful flavours inc user blue? VIP red? and support brown.. cool.gif
But you really need the Apple white one today... smile.gif

Hi, newreligion!

This came straight from Apple's site about uninstalling Logic 7. Hope this helps.

Logic Pro 7: How to uninstall

Logic Pro 7 does not include an uninstaller. If you need to uninstall the software, manually delete the items listed below. Some items may not be present, depending on what has been installed. Please be sure to address the items that are flagged in the Notes column before deleting files; removing some of these can have an impact on your other applications.

Path File/Folder Notes

/Applications/ Logic Pro
/Applications/ WaveBurner
/Applications/Utilities/ Soundtrack Loop Utility
/Library/Application Support/ REX Shared Library
/Library/Application Support/ GarageBand 1
/Library/Application Support/ Logic
/Library/Documentation/ Logic Acknowledgements.rtfd
/System/Library/Private Frameworks/ ProKit.framework 2
/Library/Receipts/ Logic Pro.pkg
~/Library/Application Support/ Logic 3, 4
~/Library/Preferences/ Logic PMData 3, 4
~/Library/Preferences/ com.apple.logic.pro.plist 3, 4
~/Library/Preferences/ Logic 3, 4
~/Library/Application Support/ Logic 3, 4

Notes:

1. Do not delete this folder if the application GarageBand is installed on your system.
2. Do not delete this file if other Pro applications, such as Final Cut Pro, are installed on your system.
3. Item only present after Logic Pro has been launched.
4. The tilde (~) in the path represents your Home folder.

Tried to reinstall when all files above (or similar) have been removed but now the chap doesnt even load without the EMI6|2 connected, but I have found that its Core Audio thats the problem because when Ive been able to open logic (when EMI6|2 was not connected) and change the profile to a different audio output, and then restart core audio it would then crash logic.

so now im thinking that the best thing and only other thing i can do is to upgrade to logic pro 7

its just so strange that the lap top with the same osx 10.4 and logic 6.3.1 works fine huh.gif(

hi all, Ive now installed Logic 7.2 Express to see if this makes a difference. My issue is clearly between Logic and the mac, since everything else is the same and on my laptop which works perfectly.

So now I have 10.4.1 with Logic 7 Express but still no audio out. I have iTunes and Quicktime sending audio out fine, but no Logic still.

So both Logic 6.3.1 and Logic 7 Express are not working on this mac. I just cant work this one out!! arrrrr!!!!!!

I'd boot from an OS disk and run disc utility, then repair prefs and repair disk. This may help settle your OS down a little...

You prob also need to re-install system or core audio and Logic at least, you're getting behavoiur that sounds like corruption of some kind.

You have never given a specification for your setup, what mac model, ram, drives, audio interface etc, accessories
