Peace People what's up,
Pllleeeeeeeaaaaaaaaazzzzzzzeeeeeee! If someone can help me I'm getting desperate over here. Either I go sailing out my third story bldg window or my mac does, I can't take it no more, I'm cracking up! (Actually probably me,cos my computer aint paid off yet)
Anyway, FYI I just updated the driver for my motu 828mk2 to be compatible w/tiger osx 10.4 whatever, and yes I did reboot. Which doesn't seem to make a difference in my problem........
Well this is what's happening....... Everythings looking lovely, I got my mpc hooked up as the master to the G5 dual temporaly as a slave, my sounds all ready to go. I hit play on the mpc I hear everything, but I aint seeing no signal in logic???? Huh????? (Pro 7.1 by the way)
Logic's stop and start is responding to my mpc fine and and the clock is running as well as the scroll bar, again sounds are no problem but no signal. Check in the mixer, same thing???? Arm all the tracks ready to record to see if it makes a difference and get a trapped constant echo of one of the sounds and STILL no signal. So I'm like huh????
Then I go to my mpc etc hit on the pads and alas! Theirs my signals jumping!! So it seems like in external play mode or tracking I can hear but I can't see. And in recording I'm getting a headache, still with no signal or recorded wave, actually when I try to record the scroll bar/ruler then dissapears too?? Huh???
Not sure if this makes a differnce but in my transport window to the far right I get x2 as the input and below that "No out" Again folks huh??????? I went through my syncronizations back and forth and its set up the best way I know how which is basically the G5 reading MTC via the motu (sympte) to the mpc which is also MTC at a 25 frame set which is also set in logic. And on top of all that my computer seems to be running slow for some reason like theirs a delayed response when I select anything with the mouse cursor, its erratic and frustrating.....
From what I understand my G5 should be more than able to handle everything. Its a dual 2.0 processor with 180 gig hd, a second additonal 120 gig hd and 1.5 gig of ram. And I aint got nothing else running except motu and logic. Again huh?????
This is my first computer in the studio, and man I now remember why I stuck to hardware for so long. I aint about to quit on it but plllleeeeeaaaaaaazzzze can someone show me the light!
Thanks and much respect
D.

QUOTE I hit play on the mpc I hear everything, but I aint seeing no signal in logic???? By "signal" do you mean MIDI or Audio signal? I assume both : How have you set up the system? MPC's outs are connected in MOTU's inputs? Have you enabled the MOTU driver in Logic's Audio / Hardware setup? Have you created the MOTU audio tracks in Logic's environment? Are you recording on MOTU's audio tracks in Logic's arrange? Furthermore, have you set up correct MIDI settings using the MIDI settings tool located in your system's Utilities -folder? QUOTE Not sure if this makes a differnce but in my transport window to the far right I get x2 as the input and below that "No out" Again folks huh??????? It just means that Logic isn'n outputting any MIDI at the moment. This is normal when you have no MIDI tracks playing.

Lepermartian??
Thanks for nothing but I aint about to leave my mpc out of the loop. Its been the heart and soul of my production for years giving me that natural grime when my clients and I need it.. ya dig. I guess i just gotta teach logic pro 7 how to respect its elders, which I see you can't help me with huh. But tell your friends not to worry, as soon as I get it right ima post my configuration so they can add back that hardware masterpiece back in their mix. Its just one of those pieces man, often immitated never duplicated...............a classic. Respect it or leave it alone. Btw positivity is the key my friend, I'm sorry to hear that u hate akai or the mpc so much. It really mustve put heavy frustration on u huh, but u know you either have it or u don't? Personally doing drums using a mouse, keyboard or loops makes me cringe.
Anyway nuff said, please I only want positive opinions not your negative wack ass comments guys. Leave that for the rest of the eggheads who make music for themselves to drive around to in their car, and not for mass appeal.
All my real bonafide users out their, whether you use mac, logic, motu or mpc. Or whether u do classical, rock, house, jazz, jungle, reggae, merenge or hip hop. Who believe that if theirs a will theirs a way........... keep the knowledge coming I'm feeling that.
Peace, D.

whats up people,
i switched to using the logic as the master and the mpc as the slave and now my erratic problems have been solved. but i still aint able to record no wave form after i arm the tracks and check my signals. everyhting is their and i see and hear my sounds but it just gives me a trapped car engine type noise when i try to record. it only was succesfull once when i hit record halfway through play mode, and i havent been able to get that to happen again.
Since im using the motu828mk2 as my interface should this piece be setup as a sympte connection in my midi utility setup or what? im thinking this may be the problem as even when i take out the sounds from the mpc i hear the engine noise which is either internal or triggered from the motu.
Again my setup is G5 with logic pro 7 going thru the motu straight to my mpc midi in and my analog outs on the mpc going to into the motu inputs which in turn is connected via firewire to logic.
If you got any suggestions, scream at me.
Peace
D.

Diablo, I've never said MPCs were crap, I don't like them personally but I have nothing against people using them, I can understand their coolness, I just can't stand Akai stuff, including MPCs, point. Now they sure can give headaches to their owners when it's a question to sync/pilot them, and I write that from personal experience, please respect that. On the Set up, glad you could sync it, now does the transport control work from logic to the MPC or the reverse, I know a few guys who would be VERY interested into this…
