How can I download music files from a mac os9.2 to an iriver mp3 player? I've noticed that as long as it is an mp3 file it's no problem, but what do I need to do to convert other file types so I'm able to download them to an iriver mp3 player???

hi
you don't say wich formats you want to convert to mp3, but that may not be important anyway biggrin.gif
well if you get the freeware app Audacity and get the Lame encoder(LAME Ain't an MP3 Encoder) you'll be able to convert many formats in to mp3
hope it helps

itunes can convert most formats to MP3. You firstly need to have the import setting on itunes (in preferences) set to MP3, then select the track you want to convert and choose convert selection to MP3 from one of the menus(can't remember which on as I am on a yucky PC at work!) I think it is in the advanced menu.

The trick is that you can convert to whatever format you have your import option selected to, if you have it set to AAC then you can convert any track to AAC, if you choose MP3 convert to MP3...
Hope that helps Jake.

Hi there, I think I found a place you can download itunes 2 that works on OS9.
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/9688

This should allow you to download install and convert away, itunes is pretrty good if you haven't got it yet...

Good luck, I am off on holiday to enjoy the (pretty lame) British May Bank Holiday. Yioppee no more work for 4 days!!

Jake.
