Hi guys, I was wondering if anybody could help me out here...I have two Motu 828 Mk II firewire linked, connected to my G4 Powerbook, running Logic Express Trial (want to C if this works in order to get Logic Pro). Problem is: only one of them shows @ a time in the hardware setup, not like DP 4.5, where I can shift select both interfaces, in order to have both infarces working together. Anybody out there with the same setup?? anybody with the full logic pro version that could tell me if this setup is possible, since I dont want to spent a lot of cash for something that will no allow me to work both of the MOTU's... huh.gif

I am thankfull for any input on this....

Rainer

Doesn't Logic only recognise 1 Interface at a time? Surely if you need to record more than 8 inputs at one time, a Powerbook will be the bottle neck, not the limitations of Logic Pro

Or is it OSX/Core Audio to blame that only 1 firewire 'interface' is allowed at one time

I have recorded 24 tracks with Digital Performer 4.5, since I have one of the MOTU's connected to an ADAT, for another 8 inputs, it works, the powerbook is not a problem. The data goes directly to an external firewire HD (no tata transfer problem). DP 4.5 allows to select multiple devices, in order to have all the chained inputs available. I was wondering if Logic Pro will do the same...

the problem is with the core audio driver in 10.3 (panther). This will be rectified in10.4 (tiger) to be released ???29th april

you can choose more than 1 coreaudio device in tiger simultaneously in logic and thus u will be able to access both MOTU interfaces simultaneously. DP has gotten around this limitation with coreaudio and so you are able to use it currently with DP.

cheers
