Want to make a Continuous Mix CD on your Mac for less. Then check out this comment I sent to the makers of Sound Studio, Mac audio recording software.

"I wanted to say that with your software and another software from another company, I was able to make a continuous mix CD of a live musical performance, as well as save myslef from spending over $1000 on a heavily sophisticated piece of equipment (Fostex CD Recorder, just for this matter. When I say continuous, I mean a CD with no gaps between songs. To do this, I would use www.rogueamoeba.com's Audio Hijack software to Hijack and record the audio based output of the music that I make in Reason 2.5, www.propellerheads.se. Basically, sound goes through Audio Hijack before it goes to the speakers. I understand that Sound Studio hasn't achieved that, yet. When I am finished, Audio Hijack would leave an aiff file on the desktop that contains my whole 2-3 hour performance. Next, I would open that file in Sound Studio and place markers where I would like each track to begin. No Gaps. Then I would use the "Edit Track by Marker Points" command, the function that breaks the track into multiple aiff files on the desktop. Then I would name each file and open my CD burning Software, Discribe, arrange the order of the tracks, set the Pregaps to zero and burn the CD. Viola!!! A continuous mix CD teh way I want it. This is very useful for independent artists like me to be able to have that kind of luxury, being able to make continuous mix CDs without paying alot for the software, or going to a studio that charges alot by the hour.

Okay, now improvements...
I use Audio Hijack, Sound Studio(demo), Ableton Live 4.0(demo), and Reason 2.5 (full version Thank God, $400) respectfully. I don't value one over the other because they all have a significant role in me creating my music.

Live doesn't let you burn multiple CD tracks, like track one, two, three. It is basically a Mixer for bringing different instruments together for the creation of a single song, that can be burned on CD.

Reason 2.5 is a stand alone music sythensizing program.

Audio Hijack can "hijack", or route audio output, any program whether it's a DVD player, Music Program like iTunes, or the Input from a Mic. But, you can't set marker points for individual tracks with no gaps.

And Sound Studio can only record input from audio that is connected to the computer's Microphone jack. I know you guys mentioned connecting the Headphone jack to the mic jack, but it's no good. Your software doesn't have the "Hijacking capabilities of Audio Hijack, respectfully.

But, like I said before, I use all of these programs, because they are very useful to me. I do need to get the full version of Sound Studio though..."

You don't get it. So it's like this... You're playing live, need it recorded. Well, I connecct my Mac record the whole performance of you mixing and scratching or whatever in Audio Hijack, then break that large file into individual tracks in Sound Studio. And presto! A continuous mix cd created(impt. no pregap times when burning the CD).
