What you guys think about using an imac G5 for live gigs. It's cheaper and seems fairly portable.

it is quite heavy
compared to a powerbook it lacks firewire 800
it does have a 7200rpm SATA drive which is better
lacks gigabyte ethernet.
depends on what your needs are for live use i suppose.
a few more details about what you want/expect out of the unit would be good to know.
But to me the size weight issue are the main things I'd look into.

Bulkier but not to the extent of being not transportable.
Power !
Enough connectivity (FW 400 is enough for live use)

A known guy doing live on the FR forum, rat47, found it ok (tested), his only concern was the mouse wasn't responding on the spot, no problem with a third party mouse. Maybe it's a concern with the USB ports.

So why not. More stylish than a laptop wink.gif laugh.gif
