Can any of you more computer literate folks suggest any reason/solution for why garageband suddenly takes upwards of 5 minutes to load on my system ?

its an emac (basically a G4 imac). I never really experienced any sort of delays until recently. I think it may have something to do with two expired 3rd party demos that I havent been able to successfully uninstall, but I'm not sure.

try going to Library/audio/plug-ins/VST or Audio Units folder and delete demos or anything that has expired... and GB should charge in a few seconds... (I hope!) cheers

hopefully this will help also track something down.... make a new user with same privledges and admin and try to run garageband from there... if it loads fast and works..then it is just as everyone here is mentioning..or some prefs / plist issue usually.... if it does not work..then it is in the program iteself and maybe you want to delete any instances of the program nad reinstall it.... hope that helps any...
