is there any recording programs for a mac that u do not need hardware for? cause i have pro tools software but no hard ware so I can't even open it. basically what I"m doing is recording in to my yamaha aw16g, but I want to be able to edit and mix on my powermac g4 because the yamaha only has 16 tracks, and I need a lot more then that on some songs, so if I could record in the yamaha then put the tracks into a multi track software on my computer and edit and mix there it would make things a lot easier for me. Is there a way to hook the yamaha up to the mac? if so how and what do I need?

Naughty naughty, you shouldn't really have the software if you haven't bought the hardware.

Yes, the Metro line of softwares will work with or without any hardware.
