Fat32 Or Osxtended, Is FAT32 recommended for an ext. drive?

I want my computer optimised mainly for audio so I was wondering whether I should reformat the external drive to the native mac format or keep the FAT32 (gaining PC compatibility I suppose). cheers Ion
