the problem is

When i select digital audio output and play it through my moniters via my studio moniter control (central station) it has little pops and clitches so when i play something it sounds like its cuttin in and out like when a audio cable is not connected prob ...all cables are strongly in and the cables i have tested

You know... I have the same problem on my G5. Digital out into the Presonus Central Station. Sometimes when I re-boot or start the G5 with the Central Station OFF, the digital lock does not wake up. It usually requires a shut down of the G5, shut down of the Central station. Then turn on the Central station, make sure the cables are plugged in, and let the Mac wake up with the digital optical cable plugged in to the 'already on' central station. This usually solves the issue.
This has happened while running iTunes, ProTools, Logic, GarageBand, With DigiCoreAudio manager on, off etc. It does not seem to matter one way or the other.
Could be the same problem, could be nothing, but it's worth noting I get the similar/same issue on a PPC G5 tower as well. It's almost like the digital lock gets confused, then can't re-sync itself once it looses lock. It tries over and over, sounding like a cable cutting in and out.
I replaced every single digital cable in the system. It did not make a difference.
