blink.gif I don't really get it ! Do you try to run Pro Tools on classic 9.2 ? don't you have the real Mac OS 9.2 ? if so just reboot on your OS9, otherwise it won't work PT doesn't run on classic.

You CAN NOT run midi or audio in Classic mode it just wont work.
All midi audio & presumably video as well must run in native mode.

Thanks a lot, for those confirmations. Merci infiniment.

I should have got that, when I realise Cubase 5.01 is also not working in Classic, as well as Ouverture from Cake walk, Protools and of course OMS......

Musicians, don't lose time with Classic 9.2 !!

So , everyone getting the last G4 bi, OS 10.2.3, wiht Classic 9.2, should forget about running midi in Classic.

On the 10.2.3, MIDI works only with a sound card, for example digidesign.
Even Steinberger midi modem, won't work. No update before the autumn.

Whatever, the incredible investment necessary, to pass on syst 10.2, and the restricted compatible applications, there is a progress. Protools and Cubase,at least, are better, faster, more simple, and nice designed.

newbie...

you CAN use these programs if you boot your mac into os9, instead of osX.

not all programs however will run in Classic OS9 --when you have booted in osX.

Your Mac is versatile! You just have to boot it differently for older programs.
Go to apple, system preferences, start up disk, choose os9.2.2 and then restart your machine. Then these programs will work for you.

good luck!

wink.gif You're right Rustik but that is the case only on specific Mac's which still can boot on OS9 and OSX, all the new macs don't have anymore this opportunity sad.gif , like some of the powerbooks or the new iMacs.

Classic is an emulation of OS9 but definetely not a real OS so it doesn't allow to use softwaare which were running on native OS9

Hope that is clear !
